Who are We
Gladesville Occasional Childcare Centre (GOCCC) is a not-for-profit, community based centre located next to the Gladesville library. GOCCC has been providing care to local families since 1983.
We provide a warm, nurturing environment where every child is valued and supported. GOCCC offers flexible, affordable care for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Our Care Model
We provide full day, half day or hourly care which can be on a permanent or casual basis depending on your needs. We operate all year, excluding public holidays and 4 weeks during the Christmas break.
Our Philosophies
-
Children
We believe every child is an individual; therefore, independence is crucial to his or her development. We foster this by encouraging autonomy and choice of participation.
We believe every child is unique in their understanding of their surroundings. We foster this through respect and consideration.
We believe every child has the right to feel safe and secure. We foster this by offering emotional freedom and warm, meaningful interactions with the children. We also encourage co-operation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and expression of feelings.
-
Families
We aim to develop positive relationships with families based on mutual trust and open communication. We foster this through the daily communication board, notices on our Parent Information Board, Chit Chat quarterly newsletter, suggestion box, Management Committee meetings and social events.
We aim to respect parents’ individual views, and we value their input. We foster this by providing opportunities for families to join our program throughout the year and encourage them to use our suggestion box.
-
Staff
We believe that your child should feel comfortable and familiar with our staff, and we therefore strive to attract and retain interested, fun, caring, competent individuals.
We aim to provide our staff with a happy, pleasant, and secure working environment in which they can grow and develop as professional carers. Our staff are expected to act as constructive role models to your children, and we therefore place a high level of importance on them showing respect toward their colleagues, the parents using the Centre, visitors to the Centre and of course the children themselves.
-
Community
We are privileged to be part of a vibrant and varied community, and we aim to participate constructively in that. We believe that the service provided by our Centre results in value for the broader community, and consequently we seek wide support, not only from our members, but also from the many other individuals and businesses with whom we interact. GOCCC is a community-run centre, which means that all profits are returned to the Centre for use in the ongoing development and improvement of our service.
